Gwen Lynn Fowler, 52

HANNIBAL, NY – Gwen Fowler, 52, of Oswego, died at Upstate University Medical Center, Syracuse, on Thursday, March 31, 2016, due to complications from an extended neurological illness and cancer.

She was born in 1963 to the late Barbara (Axtell) and Donald Fowler of Hannibal.

Gwen was a graduate of Hannibal High School and SUNY Cortland with a bachelor’s degree in political science.

She worked for many years both at Ames and Wal-Mart in Oswego and was well loved by co-workers and customers.

Gwen was an avid NASCAR fan, lover of books and music and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by a nephew, Jeffrey Fowler Jr.; and sister-in-law, Donna Fowler.

She is survived by her four sisters, her twin Gail (Dennis) Bilow of Locke, Jean (Gary) Wulfert of Minetto, Ann Fowler of Oswego and Pamela (Keith) Ball of Liverpool, England; two brothers, Mike Fowler of Fulton and Jeff (Cynthia) Fowler of Hannibal; beloved cat, Tigger; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, April 5, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oswego County Humane Society, Inc., 110 W. Second St., Oswego, NY 13126, in Gwen’s honor.
