John W. Davis, 91

John W. Davis, 91, of Fulton, died Monday at Oswego Hospital.

A native of Bellows Falls, Vermont, Mr. Davis had resided in Fulton since 1946. He retired in 1982 as a salesman after 37 years at Black Clawson, Fulton. Mr. Davis was a 1940 graduate of the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

Mr. Davis was a member of the First United Church of Fulton, formerly the First Presbyterian Church. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Fulton. He served as Captain of the 37th Infantry Division in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during World War II where he received the Bronze Star Medal for Bravery. He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Davis, who died in 1996.

Surviving: two sons, John W. Davis, Jr. of Queensbury and Morgan E. Davis of Verplanck as well as four grandchildren, Jennifer Davis of Scotia, Jeffery Davis of Flagstaff, AZ, Casey and Morgan J. Davis of Verplanck; companion, Ella Cantine of Volney.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2010 at First United Church of Fulton, 33 South Third Street, Fulton. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish. Following the graveside services the family invites everyone for a time of fellowship and refreshments at the church.
