OSWEGO – Margaret Hill Martin, Associate Professor at SUNY Oswego, passed away after a brief illness on January 24, 2021 at Oswego Hospital.
She was born in New York City on July 26,1948, the daughter of Marie Donovan Hill of New York City and William O. Hill of Mt. Ash Kentucky. Margaret received her Masters Degree in Education at Lynchburg (VA) College in 1992 and her EdD from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Blacksburg, Virginia) in 1998.
Margaret joined the faculty at SUNY Oswego in 2000.?? Margaret brought to her courses the lessons she learned working in a variety of vocational areas. Her classroom experience was complemented by her service in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, employment as a state corrections officer, and employment in the Pinellas County (Florida) Court.
Margaret loved taking cruises with her husband and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Margaret will always be remembered for her laughter, her willingness to help anyone in need, and her love for her family. She often spoke fondly of faculty and co-workers, many of whom had become close friends during her time at the University.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband, John K. Martin, her son John W. Martin and family (North Providence, RI), daughter Hope Martin Medley and family (St. Petersburg, Florida), son Troy Martin and family (Shelton, WA), and her brother Lawrence Hill (Clinton NY).
She is predeceased by her brother, Daniel Hill.
