HANNIBAL, NY – Marie Elizabeth Hyatt MacCaull passed away peacefully with her family by her side Sunday, September 30, 2012, at the age of 88.
She was born in Ogdensburg on March 30, 1924.
Marie was the daughter of the late Bill (Slant) and Ann Thorpe Hyatt.
Marie attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy class of 1941 and A. Barton Hepburn School of Nursing class of 1944.
She married the love of her and best friend, Raymond A. MacCaull on August 11, 1945, at St. Mary’s Rectory in Ogdensburg.
Marie had worked at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center and retired as a nursing instructor at Oswego County BOCES in 1982.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ray, who died April 22, 2006; a daughter, Ann MacCaull, who died January 22, 2004.
She is survived by her children, William (Patricia) MacCaull of Sterling, Carolyn (George) Trippany of Massena, Susan (Donald) Dodd of Slate Run, Pa., Mary M. Green of Hannibal, R. Joseph (Melonye) MacCaull of Oswego and Martha (Robert) Allen of Newark.
She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marie will always be remembered by her dear friends, colleagues and hundreds whose lives that have been enriched and influenced by her wisdom, enthusiasm and absolute love of life.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours.
A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday when her ashes are placed with her beloved husband in Hannibal Village Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Hannibal Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 252, Hannibal, NY 13074.
Marie will be remembered for her compassion, humor and ability to heal a broken body, heart and spirit.

My deepest sympathy to the entire MacCaull family in the loss of my neighbor – a beautiful woman who always had a smile. She is now free from her suffering and is happily with Mac.

RIP wonderful lady. Mrs. MacCaull was my teacher in nursing school. She always encouraged me and told me I could do it, even when I thought I couldn’t. I have been an LPN for 32 years now, and I know without her encoragement, I wouldn’t be able to say that.
