Michael W. Ferriter, 72

HANNIBAL, NY – Michael W. Ferriter, 72, of Sterling, passed away Friday March 14, 2014, at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego.

He was born in Oswego, a son to the late William and Leona Ferriter.

Mike was a graduate of Oswego High School.

Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the U.S.S. Compton, which was active in the Caribbean during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Mike worked at Alcan for 33 years, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of the Sterling Community Church.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Ferriter, in 1991; a brother, Gerald Ferriter in 1961; and sister, Margaret Gantley on February 27, 2014.

Michael is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patsy Malone Ferriter; three children, Sarah (Richard) Kuc of Hannibal, Michelle (Joshua) Scott of Jordan and Matthew Ferriter of Liverpool; a brother, Larry (Sheila) Ferriter of Fulton; six sisters, Katherine Enright of Mexico, Janice Leonard of Minetto, Frances Davis of North Carolina, Mary Jeanne Lapeta of Illinois, Susan Ferriter of Fulton and Elizabeth (David) Baldwin of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Tyler and Ethan Scott, and Hannah, Noah, Brady and Olivia Kuc; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A calling hour will be held Monday from 3 to 4 p.m. with a service to follow at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal.

Spring burial will be in Springbrook Cemetery, Sterling.
