Natalie (Rogers) Johnston, 86

FULTON, NY – Natalie R. Johnston, of Fulton, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the age of 86.

She was born July 22, 1931, in Volney, NY, the youngest of six children, to Lelan and Hazel Rodgers, who owned and operated Rogers Riverside Dairy.

After graduating from Fulton High School, Natalie attended Michigan State University where she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority.

She received her master’s degree from Cornell University and taught school in White Plains, NY, before returning to Fulton to marry her beloved Tom, her husband of 62 years.

While raising their five children, Natalie served on various school and community committees, including the PTA, Salivation Army, YMCA, Daughters of the American Revolution, Fulton Garden Club, Women’s Club, Fulton’s Interfaith Council and she was a member of State Street United Methodist Church.

Natalie also belonged to several duplicate bridge groups, proudly earning her Life Masters designation.

Natalie enjoyed summers with her family at Mexico Point and her association with the Vera Cruz Yacht Club community.

In addition to their extensive travels, she and Tom wintered in St. Augustine, Fla., for many years.

Natalie was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; her parents; five siblings; daughter, Kathryn Best; son-in-law, William Best; and three grandchildren, William, Hillary and Katelyn Best.

Surviving are her children, Barbara (James) Chapman, Thomas (Corinne) Johnston, Timothy Johnston and Jonathan (Amy ) Johnston; 13 grandchildren, James, Natalie and William Chapman, Mallory (Jeff) Cook, Andrew, Charlie, Matthew, Jack, Brad, Parker, Audrey, Tavish and Samuel Johnston.

The family would like to thank Darlene, Kathy, Kim, Jennifer and Valeri for all of their kind and wonderful help.

Calling hours will be Friday, March 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.
