FULTON, NY – Retired Fulton Fire Chief Norman David Allen, 79, formerly of Fulton, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at 8:55 am., after a brief battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Fulton, Dave resided in Huntington Beach, Calif., for the last 30 years.
He was a Marine Corps veteran serving from 1954 to 1957 in Korea and Japan.
He was a member of the Fulton Fire Department from 1957 to 1983 when he retired as chief of department.
Dave was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Allen Bowman, who passed in 2011.
Dave is survived by his loving companion of 30 years, Carol Barbee of Huntington Beach, Calif.; one brother, John L. Allen of Grand Island, NY; two sons, Norman David (Cherry) Allen Jr. of Fullerton, Calif., and Richard L. (Kristin) Allen of Kirkville, NY; two grandchildren, Shannon (Jake) Grey of Lycoming, NY, and Jeff (Charlotte) Allen of Anaheim, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Corbin and Logan Grey; as well as several nieces and nephews.
There were no calling hours and services are private.

I’m very sorry to read of David’s passing . I’m a cousin, I was a member of the fire and police commission when he was fire chief.
He was a relative, colleague, and friend.and I know he will be missed by those who were close to him. My condolences go out to family and Carol. Cousin Sonny
Dave was a brother-in-law, a school mate, a colleague, a partner, and most of all a friend. He will be missed. We are sorry Carol, Norman, and Dick.
