Norval D. Zufelt, 82, of Mexico, formerly of Fulton, died Thursday at home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Volney and graduated from Fulton High School. After graduation, Norval served in the Merchant Marine Service during WW II with subsequent service in the U.S Army during the occupation of Japan. He was a New York State Trooper, serving at Troop D, Fulton for 35 years, retiring in 1983. Norval then went to work at Nine Mile Nuclear Power Plant for 10 years, retiring in 1994.

He was very active in researching his families geneology, often traveling to gain more information on the Zufelt family. Norval and his companion, Patricia, enjoyed visiting flea markets and collecting Westmoreland glassware.

He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Gleason; two brothers, Walter and Henry Zufelt. Norval is survived by his companion of 25 years, Patricia Gregory of Mexico; his wife, Evalyn Zufelt of Volney; several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. Funeral services are private. Burial will be in Mount Adnah Cemetery, Fulton. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton has care of arrangements.
