FULTON, NY – Richard D. “Smiley” “Shorty” Shortslef, 77, of Fulton, passed away Monday November 25, 2013, at the Manor at Seneca Hill.
He was born in Oswego, grew up in Sterling and graduated from Hannibal High School.
Richard worked at Sealright for 44 years, retiring in 2001.
He was a fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.
Richard was predeceased by a daughter, Sheila, who died April 25, 2006; a brother, Donald Shortslef; two sisters, Mary Ellen O’Connor and Margaret Jane Jetty.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elaine Shortslef; a son, James (Shelley) Shortslef of Amboy; a daughter, Brenda (Darren) Roth of Fulton; a brother, Leigh (Pat) Shortslef of Sterling; three grandchildren, Jesse Roth, Courtney Roth and Seth Perrin Shortslef; one great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Mae Indick.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday December 7, at the Church of the Nazarene, 914 Utica St., Fulton.
