Richard E. Blake, 72

HANNIBAL, NY – Richard E. Blake, 72, of Hannibal, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 27, 2013, at his home.

He had owned and operated a farm and logging business for many years.

Richard was an award-winning tractor pull competitor, participating in many Central New York events.

He collected, owned and was proud of his 12 Minneapolis Moline tractors.

He was the son of the late Ernest and Charlotte (McGlen) Blake.

He was predeceased by a son, Brian Blake; and step-children, Roberta Baldwin and Vicki Sharp.

Surviving are his longtime companion, Dorothy Cooper of Hannibal; children, Amanda Blake and Dylan Blake of Hannibal; grand-daughter, Annaleigh; step-children, Cathy Bullock of Honeoye Falls, Barbara Griffith of Port Byron, Gary (Diane) Cooper of Oswego, Steven (Tela) Cooper of Port Byron and Shari (Oliver) VanHorn of Cato;  siblings, Diane (Ray) DuBois of Prattsburgh, Barbara Green of Phoenix, Marlene Robinson of Oswego, Jerry (Donna) Blake of Hannibal and Christine (David) Wolford of Fulton; and many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., in Hannibal.

Interment will be in the spring at Hannibal Village Cemetery.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations to Friends of Oswego County Hospice, P.O. Box 102, Oswego, NY 13126.

  1. He was a great man and I am very proud to have known him. He sparked my interest in drag racing and was a good friend and always lent a helping hand to not only friends but complete strangers in need. I am positive he feared nothing in this world.

  2. My father was a great man who touched the lives of many people. my brother and i are going to miss him dearly. but he is no longer suffering and i hope he is now resting in peace
    and i do hope i get to see him again one day. many may noy not believe in heaven but if there is one i hope that’s where he is and i hope i have the chance to see him there happy and pain free. i love and miss you dad… may you RIP <3
