Richard ‘Ricky’ Mahar, 20

FULTON, NY – Richard “Ricky” James Mahar, 20, of Baldwinsville, formerly of Fulton, passed away Wednesday November 26, 2014, after battling an illness, with his family by his side.

Ricky graduated from Baldwinsville High School in 2012, where he received perfect grades.

He completed multiple summer job programs and enjoyed working with his many teachers and aides.

Ricky was an avid NASCAR fan and attended multiple races in person.

He loved country music and going to concerts with his family.

Ricky enjoyed driving his wheelchair and being silly with his friends and family.

He also enjoyed sitting with his beloved dog, Benny.

Ricky was a communicant of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Richard Mahar.

Ricky is survived by his parents, Timothy and Lisa Mahar; his siblings, Megan and Jeffrey Mahar; maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Beverly DuBois; paternal grandmother, Roberta Mahar; paternal great-grandfather, Francis Moore; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ricky was an inspiration to everyone he met and his life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fulton.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt.

Calling hours will be held 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the mass, in the atrium of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, corner of Rochester and West Third streets, Fulton.

Contributions in Ricky’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, Tenn. 38101-9908 or to the A-T Children’s Project, 5300 W. Hillsboro Blvd. #105, Coconut Creek, Fla. 33073.

  2. God bless this young man. Sending prayers to his family. When I was in 6th grade at Lanigan elementary I was ricky’s big buddy when he was in mrs. Shawns class. I spent an entire year working with him. What a blessing he was when you saw his smile and heard his laughs.

  3. Being a fellow parishioner at Holy Trinity- many prayers have been said for Ricky through the years. My prayers go out to his entire family. Now the tables have turned and Rocky will be praying for us from up in heaven. RIP

  4. I am so sorry to hear of Ricky’s passing. I work for Bville Transportation and have had many opportunities to meet Ricky. He will be missed by many. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  8. Mr. & Mrs. Mahar, I just found out that, that angel of yours is now resting. I truly loved that kid. We had such a great time together when he was on my bus. I saw him a few times after you moved to Baldwinsville, and it made me smile when he remembered me. Just know that my prayers are with you and your family. lean on each other.
