Richard W. Pero, 79

HANNIBAL, NY – Richard W. “Dick” Pero, 79, of Oswego, passed away Monday June 11, 2012, at University Hospital in Syracuse.

He was born in Syracuse and grew up in Cato before moving to Oswego in 1963.

Dick was a self-employed truck driver for 24 years, shipping produce from Florida to New York before becoming a member of the Teamsters Local 317, Syracuse.

He then drove for Lakeshore Transportation in Oswego until his retirement in 1998.

Dick was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a collector of International Harvester tractors and collectibles.

Dick was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Lena Pero; and by a brother, William Pero.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Hawk Pero; one son, Edward R. Pero of Oswego; a brother, Albert (Barbara) Pero of Liverpool; six grandchildren; and two nieces.

Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday with services to follow at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal.
