Ridge M. Barden, 16, of Phoenix was tragically taken while playing the sport he loved.

Born in Oswego, he was a life resident of the Phoenix area.

He was a junior and honor roll student at J.C.B. High School and a defensive line tackle on the Varsity team. Ridge enjoyed all sports, weightlifting and playing Xbox.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Stephen Dodge who passed away in 2010, and his uncle, Jeff Root.

Ridge will be lovingly missed by his parents, Jacqueline Barden of Oswego and Jody Barden of Phoenix; sisters, Katherine Barnum of Oswego and Nicole Barnum of Liverpool; maternal grandmother, Dorothea Root of Oswego; paternal grandmother, Charlotte Dodge of Fulton; paternal grandfather, Michael Barden Sr. of Kansas; a niece Amelia and a nephew, Caleb; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 64 Gillespie Road, Fulton. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

  1. The Barden Family : You don’t know me. But I can tell you that my family (and most of my community) shares heartfelt sympathy for your loss. God bless you in your grief, and know that knowing your son was a life-changing event for most of his fellow players on whatever team he played for or against. Loss in the teen years is possibly the most poignant, and one which you never forget (I know this from my own experiences). But loss at any time in life brings sorrow for not only the family, but the community of that person who loved him.
