Roderick Marsh, 87

FULTON, NY – Roderick Marsh, 87, of Fulton, died Friday April 13, 2012, at University Hospital in Syracuse.

Born in Watertown to the late Fredrick E. and Margaret D. Marsh, he was a longtime resident of the Fulton area.

Roderick retired from NY Central Railroad where he was a brakeman and conductor.

An Army veteran serving in World War II, Roderick was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne, Belgium, and had received the Purple Heart for his injuries.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Jane Keehfus, who died in 1982; and by a sister, MaeAlice (Sue) Lane.

Surviving: his wife of 26 years, the former Mary Beardsley; a son, Martin Marsh; a  sister, Norma Fleming of North Carolina; a step-daughter, Sharon Holiday of Tucson, Ariz.; step-children, John, Fred and Jeffery Beardsley all of Central Square; and many step-grandchildren he thought very highly of.

A graveside service with military honors will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Adnah Cemetery.
