FULTON, NY – Samuel J. Young, 38, formerly of Fulton, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 22, 2018, in Gilbert, Ariz.
He was employed as an elementary school teacher with the Mesa Public School District in Gilbert.
Sam received his master’s degree from Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz. and bachelor’s degree from SUNY at Oswego in Oswego, NY.
An avid climber and hiker, he was the author of “Kilimanjaro: Failure and Redemption” about his experience climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa.
He leaves behind three children, Isabella and Sebastiano and their mother, Tanya Besaw-Young and Lyla and her mother, Ellen Lee-Young, all of Arizona; his parents, Diana Young of Baldwinsville and Dennis (Arlene) Young of Fulton; two brothers, Alex (Liz Gould) Young of Arizona and Adam (Emily Trumble) Young of Fulton; grandparents, Don Patrick and Robert (Judy) Young all of Fulton; a niece and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Sam was predeceased by grandmothers, Phyllis Young-Desgrosiellier and Rose Patrick.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 with a service of remembrance at 4 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.
Donations for the benefit of Sam’s children are in care of his father, Dennis Young.
