Shirley (Parker) Oney, 80, of Fulton died Thursday at Pontiac Care and Rehabilitation Center in Oswego.

Born in Fulton, she was a life resident of Fulton. Shirley had worked in the insurance industry for many years before working at Oswego County Opportunities as a dispatcher retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Volney Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; she was a member of the Fulton Gauchos Drum and Bugle Corp. Shirley enjoyed sewing and needlepoint.

She was predeceased by her husband, John E. Oney, who died January 31, 2000, a son, Robert Oney who died July 21, 2003, a granddaughter, Heather Oney, who died March 20, 2009 and brother, Glenn Parker who died April 25, 2010.

Surviving: sons, Bill (Beth) Oney of Fulton and David (Monica) Oney of Phoenix; sister, Neva Catalano of Fulton; a grandson, Jacob Oney; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a 12 p.m. service to immediately follow at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. Burial will be at Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery, Onondaga.

  3. My sympathies to you guys. Your mom was a special lady. I have fond memories of her during our Gaucho’s time. Even though I haven’t seen her in a long time my memories of her are wonderful. We always had fun. She was a very good person. Im sorry I couldn’t make it to her calling hours. Please know that my thoughts are with you all.
