Sue was the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Ortner and was born and raised in Darien Center, NY.

She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Batavia and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY.

During her nursing career, Sue worked as a public health nurse for both Oswego and Onondaga counties.

She was the admissions nurse for Loretto Geriatric Center for many years.

Additionally she worked for Crouse Irving Memorial and Upstate hospitals in Syracuse.

Sue was a skilled and compassionate nurse.

She was extremely well liked by those who knew her and was just as kind as she was beautiful.

She was known for being a whirlwind of activity with a terrific work ethic, her favorite sport being vacuuming, and as a fearless participant in creative projects.

She was a gardener and enjoyed yoga.

No one enjoyed a good time more than Sue and it is hard to believe that such a one as her is so soon gone.

We will always remember her wonderful smile, her love and her courage.

She loved her children and her four grandchildren (with another due March 31) and always looked forward to their next visit.

Besides her husband and children she is survived by three sisters and a brother: Elizabeth (Roger) Popp of Kissimmee, Fla., Sally Wilkinson of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Mary (Richard) Morley of Syracuse, and Charles (Mary) Ortner of Lafayette, Ind.; brother-in-law, Douglas (Barbara) Bradley of Skaneatles, NY; and sister-in-law, Gerry Roycraft of Camillus, NY; plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rahul Seth and his wonderful staff at the Upstate operated oncology center at Oswego Hospital, Dr. Michael Moffa of North Medical Center, and Oswego County Hospice for their skilled and compassionate treatment of Sue during the past two years.

Calling hours and funeral services will be held in April with times to be announced at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal.

In lieu of flowers, Sue would appreciate donations to the Oswego County Humane Society, 265 W. First St., Oswego, 13126.
