Wayne A. ‘Tony’ Dashnau, 77

FULTON, NY – Wayne A. “Tony” Dashnau, 77, of Constantia, formerly of Fulton, passed away on Friday February 19, 2016, following a brief illness in Hudson, Fla., where he spent the winter season.

A native of Fulton, he lived in Constantia for the past few years.

Tony retired in 1989 as a captain in the City of Fulton Fire Department where he served for 27 years.

He was named Fireman of the Year in 1972 and was a past president of the Fulton Fire Association.

Tony had worked at Robert’s Jewelers in Fulton for many years.

He was a past president of the Fulton Lions Club and received the Lion of the Year Award and a Life Member of Fulton Elks Lodge #830 where he had been a bar steward and trustee and former Elk of the Year.

Tony enjoyed sports including the Fulton Softball League serving as coach from 1977-1981 for the Oswego Valley News team; Fulton City Golf League where he served as secretary/treasurer and the North Shore Men’s Golf League.

He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957-1961 and was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his beloved wife, June DeLong Dashnau of Constantia; children, Wayne Dashnau Jr. of Fulton, Rhonda (Glenn) Woody of Albion and Renee (James) Robinson of Houston, Texas; step-children, Douglas (Deborah) Sawyer of Princeton, NJ, Kathleen (Greg) Dean of Fishkill and Scott (Karen) Sawyer of Marlborough, Conn.; grandchildren, Ali, Devin, Brooke, Faith, Anthony, Alaynna, Jack, Catherine, Bryan, Dan, Alayna, Riley and Regan; brother, Donald (Norma) Dashnau of Oswego, sister-in-law, Beverly Dashnau of Fulton; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton, with services immediately following at 4 p.m.

A spring graveside service with military honors will be held at Mount Adnah Cemetery in Fulton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mount Adnah Cemetery, 706 E. Broadway, Fulton, NY 13069 or Catholic Charities of Oswego County Food Pantry, 365 W. First St., Fulton, NY 13069.

  3. My condolences to the family for the loss of Tony. I knew him many years ago when his daughters and son were young children and he was married to his first wife. He was a true gentleman and well respected by all who knew him. May he rest in peace and his family all know that he will be watching out for them.

  4. I GRADUATED WITH TONY, WE WORKED AT TRIANGLE SHOES TOGETHER WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL. HE WAS FUN, A GENTLEMAN, A TRULY NICE GUY, THE LAST TIME I SAW HIM WAS AT OUR 55th CLASS REUNION, WILL MISS HIM THIS YR. GOD BLESS & PRAYERS TO HIS FAMILY!
