Bruce W. Brown

OSWEGO – Bruce W. Brown of Oswego Town, passed away peacefully at the age of 75, at the Oswego Hospital surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

Born in Oswego, NY, he was the son of the late Robert and Mayme (Mitchell) Brown.

He was a graduate of Oswego High School and later served in the  National Guard from 1970-1976.

Bruce retired from National Grid after many years as a mechanic. He was very handy and a talented carpenter. You could always find him building anything from shelves to birdhouses. Bruce also owned his autobody shop and was a member of the Oswego Moose and the American Legion.

Bruce was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and Giants. He also enjoyed following racing, especially Mark Martin. That enjoyment of racing led him to the opportunity to paint the Supermodified cars of Hal LaTulip and Ed Thompson. Although he never golfed he enjoyed a good Greg Norman shirt, and he was always happy to talk on the phone to anyone, except between 11 and 12,  when the Price is Right was on.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife Dorathy “Betsy”(Axtell) Brown, and children Dan Brown of Oswego and Katie (Jason) Bellomo of Gastonia, NC.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Minetto.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made, in Bruce’s name, to the Oswego Animal Shelter, 621 E. Seneca Street. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
