Beverly U. Girard, 88

OSWEGO, NY – Beverly U. Girard, 88, a life-long resident of Scriba, NY, passed away on Friday August 12, 2016, at St. Luke’s Health Services in Oswego.

Beverly was born on April 11, 1928, in Syracuse, NY, to the late Frank and Veneta Putnam Upcraft.

She grew up in Scriba.

Beverly graduated from Oswego High School in 1946.

After high school, she was employed at the Oswego Sewing Factory until her marriage in 1958 to the late Ernest Preston Girard Jr.

They were happily married 37 years until his passing in 1995.

Beverly was a member of the United Baptist Church of Scriba, the Lake City chapter of the Eastern Star, Scriba Historical Society, American Baptist Women, the Knit Wits and the OLP.

She enjoyed life and in her spare time enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, visiting with friends and family and participating in church activities.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; her parents, Frank and Veneta Upcraft; and her brother, Clyde Upcraft.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Lynne (Chris) White of Scriba; her son, Robert (Joanna) Girard of Scriba; and her son, David (Robin) Girard of Macon, Ga.; along with eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and close family members.

Calling hours will be at Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego, on Tuesday, August 16, from 4-7 p.m.

A memorial service will be held at the United Baptist Church of Scriba, 5111 State Route 104, Oswego, on Wednesday, August 17, at 1 p.m.

She will be buried next to her husband in the North Scriba Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the United Baptist Church of Scriba.

  2. I helped take care of her when she lived at Bishop Commons ,she was a very nice lady who I enjoyed talking to.Always friendly.May she R.I.P.

  4. Your Mother was a very special lady. She will always be remembered! She had called my house 2 years ago to tell me she had saw my daughter Emily’s picture in the paper and what a wonderful girl she is. I still have that message on my answering machine to this day and will not erase it.
