Charles R. Hutcheson, 85

OSWEGO, NY – Charles R. Hutcheson, 85, a resident of East Ninth Street in Oswego, passed away Thursday morning July 12, 2012, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Mr. Hutcheson was born in Oswego and was the son of the late Charles W. and Martha L. Boardway Hutcheson.

He was the husband of the late Evelyn Barry Hutcheson who died February 4, 2010.

He was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church and was a member of the Oswego Elks Lodge and was Elk of the Year in 2000-2001.

He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Oswego Softball Association and the IBEW Bowling League. He was an avid Yankee and Giants fan.

Mr. Hutcheson served in the US Navy Seabees during World War II.

Mr. Hutcheson had been employed as an electrician on various construction projects throughout New York and was a 60-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 328.

He is survived three daughters, Sandra Hutcheson of Oswego, Mimi (Mel Hansen) Goulet of Fulton and PJ (Donald) Mills of Ladson, SC; a son, Charles J. (Janet) Hutcheson of Oswego; one sister, Dorothy L. Bumpus of Oswego; 11 grandchildren, Gina (Ryan) Horn, Anne Marie Lombardo, Michael Chwalek, Mark Chwalek, Drew Hutcheson, Katelyn Chwalek, Maddie Goulet, Austin Ferguson, Devyn Hutcheson, Lauren Guilds and Freddy Ferguson; four great-grandchildren, Haley Horn, Jesse Horn, Aiden Chwalek and Layla Chwalek; his fiancé, Judy Wallace of Oswego; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Chwalek, who died in 2005; and his beloved aunt, Jesse Hutcheson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10 a.m. from the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.

  1. SO SORRY TO HEAR OF HIS PASSING. I KNEW BOTH HIM & EVEE & I ALSO KNOW JUDY. MY PRAYERS WILL BE WITH THOSE LEFT BEHIND.
