OSWEGO, NY – Clarissa (Cris) Deady passed away recently in Ormond Beach, Fla., after a short illness.
Born in Minetto, NY, on July 15, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Jessie Williams and the widow of Robert (Bob) Deady.
Cris graduated from Oswego High School in 1936 and from Syracuse City College.
Cris and Bob owned and operated Himes and Deady Florist for more than 40 years.
After retirement, they split their time between Oswego and Daytona Beach Shores, Florida.
Cris was a member of the First Baptist Church where she participated in the Kings Daughters.
She also was a member of the Oswego Children’s Board, Hillcrest Children’s Home board, the Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and the Hospital Twig.
Cris was an avid golfer and belonged to Oswego Country Club for more than 50 years where she scored six holes-in-one.
She also enjoyed swimming, having proudly jumped off the Minetto bridge as a teenager.
Cris and Bob enjoyed playing party and duplicate bridge for many years.
Known as “Deady” to her grandchildren, Cris enjoyed family and friends gatherings in Oswego and Florida often displaying her widely admired cooking skills.
Cris is survived by her daughters: Nancy (Joe) Rue of Pompano Beach, Fla. and Debbie (Ken) Jackson of Ormond Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her niece, Ginger Kohlman-Carrieri and several other nieces.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, Bob Deady; sisters, Betty Hill and Mary Esther Kohlman; and brother, George Williams.
Private services will be held in Oswego in June.
Arrangements are in care of the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
