Deborah C. Loftus, 57

OSWEGO, NY – Deborah C. Loftus, 57, of Oswego passed away Monday April 21, 2014, at Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse.

She was born in Oswego and was the daughter of the late Maurice and Dorothy E. White Merritt.

Mrs. Loftus had been employed for many years in the Housekeeping Department of St. Luke Health Services, Inc.

She was the widow of Kenneth Loftus, who died in 1991.

Deborah was a Life time Member of the VFW Post 2320.  She was a member of the Oswego Moose Lodge and enjoyed golfing, darts, creating puzzles and collecting frogs.

She always looked forward to gatherings of family and friends.

She is survived by her partner, Donald (Honker) Murray Jr., of Oswego; three daughters, Rebecca (Robert) Gibson, Erin (Thomas Salls) Loftus both of Oswego and Kesha (Kenneth Coleman) Loftus of Syracuse; two brothers, Paul Merritt of Fulton and David (Kelly) Merritt of Rochester; three sisters, Luann (Donald Watson) Ahart, Brenda Merritt and Suzanne (Gary Babcock) all of Oswego; four grandchildren, Amber Thompson, Tiara Gibson, Emma Salls and Alexandra “Alley” Salls; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Becky Thompson.

Funeral services will be Friday 8:30 a.m. from the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Thursday 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

  2. She was a great neighbor and friend. I’ll never forget the fun we had as kids. May she rest in peace with Becky and her mom and dad.
