Dick H. Penfield, 86

OSWEGO, NY – Dick H. Penfield, 86, a resident of Oswego, passed away Friday March 20, 2015, at St. Luke Health Services.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Tracy and Ethel (Askew) Penfield.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Dick was a life-long resident of Oswego where he worked as a self-employed entrepreneur.

A jack-of-all-trades he owned and operated many real estate properties including the Brynnington Apartments.

He considered work his hobby.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Oswego Elks.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Daisy (Smith) Penfield; two daughters, Suanne Pickreign of Oswego Town and Cathy Marlott of Scriba; two sons, Rick (Betty) Penfield and Robert Penfield, both of Scriba; a brother, Paul Penfield of Scriba; two sisters, Helen Babcock and Fran Wadas, both of Scriba; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Barbara Hoyt, Shirley Dashnau, Susie Sarat, Peg Troglin, Edward Penfield, Donald Penfield, Howard Penfield and Teddy Penfield.

Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Oswego Alliance Church, Thompson Road.
