OSWEGO, NY – Elizabeth L. Van Gorder, 90, a former resident of State Route 48 in Minetto, passed away Saturday January 17, 2014, at Seneca Hill Manor.
Mrs. Van Gorder was born in Minetto, NY, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Cassie (Fleming) Meeker.
She was a life resident of the area.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed, for 20 years, at Mack’s Drugstore in Oswego.
She had also worked on a turkey farm in Scriba and at Columbia Mills in Minetto.
She was the former president of the Square Dance Club, and was a member of the Minetto Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, James Van Gorder Jr., of Minetto and Clifford (Priscilla) Van Gorder of Palermo; a sister, Nora Jones of Oswego; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Van Gorder Sr., who died in 1997; and two sisters, Mary Mack and Mildred Meeker.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
Spring burial will be in Minetto Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service, at the funeral home, 112 E. Second St.
