Elsie Mae Duffy, 88

OSWEGO, NY – Elsie Mae Duffy, 88, of Oswego, passed away Friday August 1, 2014.

Born in Bellows Falls, Vermont, Elsie moved to New York at the age of 3 and lived in Fulton and Oswego throughout the rest of her life.

She worked for Sealright for 12 years and as a machine operator at the Nestle plant until her retirement in 1989.

Elsie was active in her community as a member of the Oswego Town Volunteer Fire Department and the Oswego County Visually Impaired Group.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oswego.

Elsie is survived by her two daughters: Susan (Leon) Carter of Myrtle Beach, SC and Shirlie Stuart (Sam Bartorillo) of Clay; her son, Robert (Kimberly) Duffy of Oswego; six grandchildren: Laura (Brian) McManus of Syracuse, Captain Christopher Carter of Charlotte, NC, Petty Officer Second Class Matthew Stuart of Duluth, Min., Kathryn Carter Hill of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jonathan (Laura) Duffy of Oswego and Charles Duffy of Oswego; and three great-grandchildren:  Kayleigh, Shalane and Arianna.

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Walter B. Duffy.

Elsie was a devoted wife, a dedicated mother and grandmother and a dear friend to all who knew her.

A private service will be held by the family.

Nelson Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
