Fern Isham

PHOENIX, NY – Fern  Isham passed away suddenly on Sunday  June 9, 2013, after a long and happy life.

She was a devoted daughter of Harry and Edna (Timerson) Isham, who passed before her.

Her brothers, John and Richard also predeceased her.

Fern is survived by her sister, Barbara and her husband, Robert Hanley, of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews; as well as grandnieces and grandnephews; her beloved friend and neighbor, Maria Pulvere Gay; as well as her many friends.

She was a graduate of Phoenix High School, and was a decades long resident of the town of Granby.

Fern was a faithful parishioner of State Street United Methodist Church, Fulton.

She loved nature and was a longtime friend of the Beaver Lake Nature Center.

Fern served for many years as a volunteer for the Salvation Army.

She also enjoyed traveling, Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls, following her favorite sports team in the newspapers and on television and the game of golf.

Fern loved to debate politics with all persons willing to debate.

She also love sharing a “Cup of Joe'” with friends and family.

Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix.

A calling hour will be from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the service.

Burial will be in Martville Cemetery, State Route 104, town of Sterling.

  1. To the family of Fern, please accept my deepest sympathies in your loss. Fern and I shared many happy times at the Salvation Army in Fulton. She was the best at organizing the Red Kettle Campaign for the Christmas holidays. I will always remember Fern for her love of life and nature.
