Floyd “Weno” Ponzi, 78

Floyd “Weno” Ponzi, 78, of Chestnut St. Oswego, passed away June 18, 2010 at University Hospital, Syracuse after a long illness.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Angelo and Ameila (Bellardino) Ponzi.

He was a member of the Boilermaker’s Local 175.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, a son, Joseph Ponzi; daughter, Vicki (David) Fowler; granddaughters, Gina, Kelly and Maria; two great-grandsons, Jacob and Cody; two brothers, Joseph and Anthony “Butch” Ponzi; four sisters, Rita Johnson, Delores Fitzgerald, Barbara Ponzi, Mary Margaret Flett.

He was predeceased by brothers, Francis “LaLa” Ponzi and Leonard Ponzi and sisters, Clara DeStevens and Louise Delnero.

Services will be private at the convenience to the family. Entombment will be in All-Saint’s Mausoleum, St. Peter’s Cemetery.

  1. I knew Weno as a kid growing up , although he was more of a friend of my father’s Jack Sr. than me . I never knew of any one that didn’t like Weno and that’s more of a testament to him then I could ever say ! I didn’t know the family , except Joe and he was a nice guy as well . I’m sorry for all of you , you lost a real good man . I hope you guys get through this okay , will say a prayer for Weno !
