George Allan ‘Skeet’ Henry, 79

PHOENIX, NY – George Allan “Skeet” Henry, 79, of Altmar, passed away at home on Saturday August 1, 2015.

He was born to his late parents, Isalee (Black) Henry and George Joseph Henry on January 23, 1936, in Portland, Maine.

Surviving are his loving companion of 18 years, Myra L. Grabowski; his sister, Roberta Borman of Silverdale, Wash.; his four children, Martha Heffer of Argyle, Texas, Craig and Susan Henry of Pittsford, NY, George Robert Henry “Bob”
of Bloomfield, NY, and Ruth and Peter Fornieri of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Jessica Lynch, Lauren and Lindsey Henry, Jacob and Joseph Fornieri; great-grandchildren, Noah and Ciana Lynch; step-children, Stephen Kelly, Cheryl Carpenter and her daughter, Tonya.

Mr. Henry attended schools in South Portland and Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

He served in the USMC from 1954-56.

Skeet then attended the University of Maine at Orono, graduating in 1960.

He then began his career in education for 28 years, mostly dealing with troubled children, labeled severely emotionally disturbed, in several communities around New York State.

For 23 years, he served as a water quality tester for the Kasoag Lake Conservation Association as part of the CSLAP.

Graveside services only will be held on Monday August 10, at 11 a.m. in the Phoenix Rural Cemetery Association, 126 Chestnut St., Phoenix.
