ATV Collision in Lewis County Claims Life of Oswego Man

On August 29, at approximately 9:28 p.m., State Police in Watertown responded to 2508 Prince Brook Road in the town of Osceola, Lewis County, for a single ATV fatal collision. The investigation revealed, Richard D. Shaw, 52, from Oswego, was operating a 2012 Arctic Cat ATV, with 5 other people when they noticed Mr. Shaw was no longer following the group.

Council Approves Oswego’s 2016 Budget

At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council adopted the city’s spending plan (as amended) for 2016 by a 6-1 vote. Second Ward Councilor Pat McLaughlin cast the lone nay vote. The mayor has 10 to, if he wishes, veto the budget vote. The tax increase dropped to nearly 1 percent.

The Northeastern Economic Developers Association, which represents 11 states, will hold its annual conference on September 13 – 15 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Downtown in Syracuse. Each year, NEDA recognizes outstanding achievements in the field of economic development by way of its annual Best Practice and Marketing Awards. During the annual conference awards dinner on September 14, NEDA will present Tailwater Lodge with the NEDA Project of the Year Award.

Oswego Kartway Classic, Party in the Pits Launch Official Budweiser Classic Week Track Activity at Oswego Speedway

The 9th annual Oswego Kartway Classic will kick off racing directly behind Oswego Speedway during Budweiser International Classic Week on September 3 at 6:30 p.m. The Kartway Classic has become a staple event for kart racers throughout New York State, and with increasing weekly kart counts at Oswego Kartway during the regular season, the Classic looks to be on its way to a record number of entries next week.
