OSWEGO, NY – The 9th annual Oswego Kartway Classic will kick off racing directly behind Oswego Speedway during Budweiser International Classic Week on September 3 at 6:30 p.m.
The Kartway Classic has become a staple event for kart racers throughout New York State, and with increasing weekly kart counts at Oswego Kartway during the regular season, the Classic looks to be on its way to a record number of entries next week.
Racers in fourteen different divisions will lay it all on the line on September 3 for the right to be called Classic champion, and they will compete for beautiful championship trophies designed and built by JB Sign Co. of Liverpool.
For the first time, Oswego Kartway Classic champions will also head home with a beautiful Kartway Classic champions ring, designed and developed by JP Jewelers of Oswego, valued at $1,000.
Podium finishers will also contend for tickets to Budweiser International Classic Weekend at Oswego Speedway, September 4-6.
Although the Kartway has not run a Stock Heavy flathead division all year long, Kartway officials have added the division to the Classic lineup at 375 pounds.
The Kartway Classic will begin with time trials for all divisions at 6:30 p.m. on September 3, with racers drawing for time trial position upon arrival to the Kartway. A predetermined amount of racers, which will be announced at the driver’s meeting, will be locked into the Classic main event through time trials with the remainder qualifying through a last chance B-Main.
Classic main events will run five more laps than a standard night at the Kartway.
Those racers competing in any of the Clone divisions are reminded that they must purchase their gasoline from the Sunoco/Nice & Easy gas station located on Route 104 directly in front of the Speedway. The gasoline test sample used for technical inspection will be taken from that station.
Pit gates will open on Thursday at 3 p.m. with hot laps beginning at 5:45 p.m.
Mandatory safety pre-tech will open at 4 p.m.
Entry fees will be $30 for Kartway members and $35 for non-members and include pit passes. Pit pass prices are $15 with car load spectator admission just $5.
With Budweiser International Classic Week camping already into full swing by the Kartway Classic, those not hauling a kart for racing activities, will be charged $5 at the main gate and issued a car permit for the camping lot.
This car permit allows for vehicles to move in and out of the campgrounds for the remainder of the weekend.
While Oswego Kartway will be racing behind the Speedway, the annual Classic Cruise-In and Party in the Pits will be taking place inside the ‘Steel Palace.’
Classic cars will be entering the Speedway at right around 5 p.m., with Ron Gray’s Millennium Music playing from 5-9 p.m. Classic cars in attendance will be contending in several judging categories.
59th annual Budweiser International Classic apparel will also be for sale inside the Speedway on September 3.
