OSWEGO, NY – George E. Smith, 84, a resident of County Route 25, Oswego, passed away Thursday March 19, 2015, at Oswego Hospital.
Born in Sterling, NY, he was the son of the late William and Florence (Sturge) Smith.
He was a US Air Force veteran, serving from 1950-1954.
George worked for 20 years as a Millwright for Sealwright. He then worked and retired from Alcan after 20 years.
He was an avid hunter and a member of the Pathfinder Gun Range.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Marie (McMillen) Smith; a nephew, Blair McMillen; a niece, Joanne (David) Scruton; a niece, Debbie (Tom) Hall; a nephew, Gary (Martha) Smith; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Smith.
Calling hours will be held 3-5 p.m. Monday, with a service to follow, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
Spring burial will be held at Springbrook Cemetery, Fair Haven.
