OSWEGO, NY – Gerard “Gerry” Pelkey passed away peacefully at home on Sunday March 6, 2016.

He was born on April 6, 1960, to the late Donald Edward Pelkey and Concetta Rose Solazzo Pelkey of Oswego.
He attended St. Paul’s Catholic School and went on to attend Oswego School District, finishing his education by attending Modern Welding School in Schenectady, NY.
Gerry was a member of the Steamfitter’s Union Local #638 of Long Island, NY, for a number of years before joining Union Local #267 out of Syracuse, NY.
When Gerry wasn’t working at his trade, he could be found working on various projects, especially outdoors, or lending a hand to many family and friends.
He would always be remembered for his talent with his hands, whether it was working with wood or metal, Gerry always found a way to create something out of nothing.
Gerry was predeceased by several aunts and uncles.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, the former Lisa Marie Bristol; his children, Tabitha (Jason) Mott, Sara (Kevin) Pelc, Gina (Christopher) Allen and Maria Pelkey, all of Oswego including his grandchildren, Rowan, Nathan, Torin and Hailey.
In addition, he is also survived by his brother, Donald (Sally) Pelkey of Oswego; his sister, Ann (Vernon) Clark of Sterling; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 3-7 p.m., Wednesday, at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, at St. Joseph’s Church.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Following the funeral service, there will be a celebration of life at The American Foundry where family and friends are welcome to share any fond memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oswego County Hospice.

My sincerest condolences to Gerry’s family and friends. He was a well respected man as well as a talented welder with great mechanical abilities. He will be missed.
My condolences to the family. I’ve known Gerry for a number of years and we always had a great laugh together whenever we had a chance to meet. I will miss this guy.
