Gladys V. VanHorn, 91

OSWEGO, NY – Gladys V. VanHorn, 91, of Oswego, passed away Wednesday afternoon Feb. 27, 2013, in Oswego Hospital.

She was born in Ontario, Canada, and was the daughter of the late William and Mary Bebe Bailey.

Mrs. VanHorn was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph A. Yeager, who died in 1960; and her second husband, James E. VanHorn, who died in 1977.

She was a homemaker and had previously worked at Comstock Foods and the Ladies Home.

She was a member of the Salvation Army.

Mrs. VanHorn is survived by two daughters, Mary “Susie” (Norbert) Woodard and Patricia (Donald) Owen, both of Oswego; four sons, James Yeager of Oswego, Francis (Gigi) Yeager of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Richard (Teresa) Yeager of Houston, Texas and Dennis Yeager of Oswego; two brothers, Clarence Bailey of Scriba and Herbert Bailey of Marengo, Illinois; two sisters, Helen Lehmann of Oswego and Hazel Dopp of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by several siblings and a granddaughter, Dennise Stone.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1-3 p.m. prior to services.

Spring burial will be in Rural Cemetery.

  1. Dear Pat, my thoughts are with you today. The love you have for your Mom is visible every time you talk about her. She knew that and I am sure it made her happy. She will be missed daily. Love you, Cathy
