Harold Anthony O’Reilly

OSWEGO, NY – Harold Anthony O’Reilly of Oswego, passed away on Friday March 9, 2012, at his winter home in Lantana, Fla., surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Oswego, Harold attended St. Paul’s School.

He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943.

He served aboard the destroyer USS Braine, where he was injured during a battle off the coast of Saipan.

He was awarded the Purple Heart and honorably discharged in 1945.

Harold was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 273 & 73 for 61 years. He retired in 1986.

He was a member of the VFW Post 5885 and a former member of the American Legion.

He was predeceased by his mother, Mabel Scales O’Reilly; his father, Albert O’Reilly; and three brothers, William (Bill), Cecil and Thomas O’Reilly.

Harold is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Judith Cahill O’Reilly; daughter and son in-law, Kathy and Richard Kelner of Fayetteville; daughter Kelly O’Reilly of Lantana, Fla.; two grandchildren, Brian and Julia Kelner; many nieces and nephews; and two furry companions of Lantana (Rocky & Bullwinkle).

Graveside services will be held noon on Friday at Riverside Cemetery, Oswego.

Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Contributions may be made in Harold’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
