PHOENIX, NY – Harvey Joseph Ryan, 82, of Liverpool, (Clay), former Phoenix, resident, passed away on Thursday June 16, 2016, at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford, NY.

He was born on February 18, 1934, in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada to his late parents, Mary (Pierce) and Joseph Woodrow Ryan.

Harvey was a veteran of the US Navy, serving from 1951-55.

Harvey spent many years in the Boston, Mass., area working for R. H. White Co. clothing stores and later as a manufacturers clothing sales representative.

He and his wife, Jody, operated the Big M supermarket in the Three Rivers Plaza for 12 years, closing in 2003.

In recent years, Harvey was a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker in Liverpool.

He enjoyed the game of golf and played when time allowed.

Harvey was predeceased by his brother, Gordon Ryan, on Dec. 25, 2006.

Surviving are his loving wife of 26 years, JoAnne E. “Jody” Brooks Ryan; his four children, Kenneth Ryan of Sturbridge, Mass., Barbara Ryan and her husband, Charles Tringali, of Tewksbury, Mass., Mark (Carrie) Ryan of Nashua, NH, and Harvey (Kellie) Ryan Jr. of Tewksbury, Mass.; his step-children, Heather (Jim) Stagnitta of Carver, Mass., and Aaron Brooks and his finance, Dr. Paula Gregg, of Carthage, NY; his six grandchildren, Ashley and Brittany Hoefer,Emilie Ryan, Jackie Brindle, Elizabeth and Emilee Stagnitta; his five sisters, Judith Hedgecorth of Tiverton, RI,  Mary Margaret Ryan of Pawtucket, RI, Linda Hennebury of Saco, Maine, JoAnne Evans of Mansfield, Mass., and Ellen McNeil of Holbrook, Mass.; his three brothers, David Ryan of Gardiner, NY, Robert Ryan of Pembrook, Mass., and James Ryan of Stanhope, NJ; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and many friends througout New England States and the Mid-Atlantic States.

Sincerest thanks to the nurses and staff at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford, NY, for their exemplary and loving care for Harvey and his family during this difficult time.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 27, at the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix.

A  church mass will be at 10 a.m. in Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 3494 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY, with the Rev. John Finnegan officiating.

Burial will be in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree, Mass., at the convenience of the immediate family. missing or outdated ad config
