Her passing was calm and serene.

Helen was born in Oswego to the late Marie and Robert Anthony.

She was the devoted wife of the late Francis Pupparo, who predeceased her in February, 2000; as well as a daughter, Sharon Ann Pupparo; and great-grandson, Hunter Guzowski.

Helen lived a rich, full life and was known for her humor and joy.

Through Helen, her family learned to find happiness in every situation, no matter how bad, and that life is to be lived day by day, appreciating how precious it can be.

In addition to working alongside her husband on their dairy farm, Helen worked at the Diamond Match and Woolworth’s 5 and 10 store in Oswego.

Helen also enjoyed her various jobs in her earlier years as a cook at Johnson Hall cafeteria at SUNY Oswego, for a local fraternity and nearly 20 years at Vona’s Restaurant in Oswego.

Along with her work at home and in the community, Helen also donated her time and skills to the Oswego community by working for the Oswego Players sewing costumes and providing food and assistance when needed; and by volunteering with the RSVP at the O’Mara Welcome Center, as well as reading stories at the Oswego Library Children’s Hour.

Helen loved to do puzzles, cook, sew, crochet for veterans and for the local community, and help at her granddaughter’s school and 4-H.

She also enjoyed bowling, swimming and spending time on the shores of Lake Ontario.

Over the years, in addition to their own nine offspring, Frank and Helen cared for a number of children on the farm.

Helen is survived by her two sisters, Irene Wilder and Jean Crouch; sister-in-law, Margaret Pupparo of California; her children: Richard Pupparo of Oswego, John Pupparo of Colorado, Peter Pupparo of Nevada, Rosemarie Pupparo of Oswego, Diane Pupparo of California, Dennis Pupparo of Oswego, Teresa LaMond of Fulton and Linda Fuller of Oswego; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Special loving thoughts go to Robert Anthony of Cato, NY.

Helen and her family wish to give very special thanks to the nurses and staff who cared for Helen at St. Luke’s Nursing home; as well as all of the staff from Oswego Hospital; Today’s Options; Gentiva Comfort Care and Oswego County Hospice.

You are each remembered and deeply appreciated.

Calling hours will be 4-8pm Friday at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.

Burial will be Saturday at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
