Honor Mary Carpenter, 74

OSWEGO, NY – Honor Mary Carpenter, 74, of Oswego, passed away Saturday November 16, 2013, at St. Luke Health Services.

Mrs. Carpenter was born on April 5, 1939, in Buffalo, NY.

She was the daughter of Walter and Alice (Mooney) Barnes.

She was a 1957 graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School, Syracuse, NY, and received her R.N. Degree from Crouse Irving School of Nursing in 1960.

Honor served as village nurse in Dolgeville, NY, from 1962-1964.

She subsequently worked as an R.N. In the offices of Dr. Edison, Theresa, NY, and at Pontiac and Hillcrest nursing homes, Oswego.

Honor is survived by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth (Pete) Carpenter; their seven children, Daniel (Jean) of Rhode Island, Timothy (Elizabeth) of Cazenovia, Kevin (Margie) of Liverpool, Michael (Pam) of Boston, Christopher of Oswego, Julie Cahill (Michael) of Oswego and Matthew (Patrise) of Syracuse; two brothers, James Barnes and Joseph Barnes (Angeline); 10 grandchildren, Robert, Margaret, Zoie, Jack, Claire, Jaleel, Kaleel, Sophia, Madeline and Declan; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 10:30 a.m. from the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.

Burial will be in Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.

The Carpenter family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and volunteers at St. Luke Health Center for their loving care and concern in the time Honor was in their care.
