Ian R. Wills, 62

OSWEGO, NY – Ian R. Wills, 62, a resident of Oswego, passed away Wednesday September 24, 2014, at home, surrounded by his family.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late George and Arlene (Bruce) Wills.

He was a 1971 graduate of Mexico High School and the Richard De Tolo School of Beauty.

He was a self-employed hair stylist and was a manager at JC Penney’s salon in Oswego until he suffered a brain aneurysm.

Ian was a member of the Oswego Players and was preforming in the play No Sex Please, We’re British, when he met his wife.

Surviving are his wife, Maureen (Fitzgerald) Wills; two daughters, Corrie (Andrew) Pospesel and Brina (Jacob) Butchko both of Fulton; four brothers, Bruce (Maria) Wills of Pennsylvania, Robert (Cathy) Wills of South Carolina, Josephus (Deb) Wills of Scriba and George (Mary) Wills of Florida; one sister, Anna Wills of Mexico; two grandchildren, Elizabeth (Justin) Shufelt and Vera Jean Butchko; one great-granddaughter, Arabella Shufelt; several nieces and nephews; and his wonderful aide, Kathy Gates.

Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. September 29, with a memorial service to follow, at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany Street, Oswego.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

  1. Dear Maureen and family, I was saddened to hear of Ian’s passing. Take comfort in knowing he is now at rest and there is no pain.

  2. I met Ian when we worked together at Cut and Curl in Fulton over 35 years ago. He was a really nice guy and a lot of fun. So sorry for your loss.
