Jacqueline E. Witmer, 90

OSWEGO, NY – Jacqueline E. Witmer, 90, a resident of Oswego, passed away Sunday December 28, 2014, at St. Luke Health Services.

Born in Utica, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice (Schafer) Hamm.

She volunteered for the Red Cross in Syracuse and enjoyed her summers at Henderson Harbor with her family.

Surviving are a son, Dean (Suzanne) Witmer of Henderson Harbor; a daughter, Susan Witmer of Oswego; a brother, David Hamm of Oswego; a sister, Mary Alice Bannigan of Fort Myers, Florida; three grandchildren, Lindsay Green, Emily (Rory) Caster and Douglas (Delecia) Weatherstone; three great-grandchildren, Jackie Green, Madeline Green and Carmella Weatherstone; and special nieces, Cindy Tilton and Tish Mahlbacher.

She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Witmer, in 1987.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Francis Commons and St. Luke Health Services for their care and compassion.

Private family services will be held in the spring.

  1. My sympathy to you Sue, and to your family in the loss of your mom. I am fortunate that I was able to have known her, and enjoyed her during her years at Springside.
