Jeannine T. Sconzert of Oswego passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 6, 2010.

She was born in Montreal Canada, to the late Marie Claire and Edgar Joseph. She experienced the adventures of having lived in twelve states before settling in Oswego in 1965. Jeannine was a communicant of St. Mary’s church. Her husband Boniface predeceased her in 1983.

Jeannine was a people person and a dear friend to many; her beautiful smile and quick wit will be greatly missed. She was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and inspiration to her family and friends. Jeannine was a talented seamstress and enjoyed exercise classes at the YMCA, Bridge Club and playing golf with her many friends and beloved daughter.

Jeannine worked for Auxiliary Services at the State University College at Oswego for sixteen years and at the City of Oswego Personnel Department for eleven years, retiring in 1998. She was a volunteer for 10 years at the Oswego Hospital and an auxiliary at the Elk’s Lodge, where her homemade carrot cakes were in high demand.

Jeannine is survived by her son Perry (wife, Sharon) of Syracuse, daughter Carol (and friend Bill of California), two grandsons Philip and Bradley, four brothers, Rene (Josette), Maurice (Helene), Andre (Liette), Jean Louis (Renee). She was predeceased by two brothers Raynald and Patrick.

Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2010 at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany Street, Oswego NY 13126.

Celebration Mass will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Church 103 West 7th Street Oswego. Entombment will be private in All-Saint’s Mausoleum, St. Peter’s Cemetery.

  1. Jeannine worked for us every year at the annual Oswego Hospital Bazaar donating and helping me arrange and sell all the baked goods. She was so much fun to talk to and
    it seemed she knew everyone. She will be so missed by so many. Our hearts and prayers go out to her family …She was a great LADY

  5. JEANNINE WAS A WONDERFUL PERSON. SHE INSPIRED ME TO TAKE UP SEWING WHICH I STILL ENJOY TODAY. I AM SORRY I COULD NOT MAKE THE SERVICES. MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU.
