OSWEGO, NY – Joanne L. Reidy, 63, a resident of Minetto, passed peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Saturday, September 26, 2015, after a brief illness.
Born in Canandaigua, NY, Joanne was the daughter of Charles Childs and Doris Kisor Childs and grew up in Shortsville, NY.
She was a registered nurse for more than 40 years, starting her career at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan, NY.
She moved to Oswego in 1976 and worked in the Emergency Department at Oswego Hospital followed by the Pediatrics office of Dr. James Campbell in Fulton.
She finished her career with more than 20 years as a nurse for children with disabilities through Oswego County BOCES.
She retired in 2012.
Joanne devoted a lot of her time to the Minetto Beautification Committee and was a very active member of the Minetto United Methodist Church.
Above all she loved to spend time with her friends, family and her four beautiful grandsons.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Peter Reidy, of Minetto; her daughter, Megan (Kyle) Norton of Rochester; her son, Dr. Peter (Dr. Jessica) Reidy, of San Francisco, Calif.; and four grandsons, Brayden and Spencer Norton and Luca and Benjamin Reidy.
She is also survived by her sisters, Charlene (Robert) Ianuzzi of Kissimmee, Fla. and Denise (Kevin) Perry of Canandaigua, NY; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father and mother; and mother-in-law, Joan Reidy.
Calling hours will be held at Nelson Funeral Home in Oswego on Saturday from 1-4 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Minetto United Methodist Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. followed by a celebration of life party at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center located at Captain’s Quarters in Oswego.
