John Charles Himes, Sr., 73

John Charles Himes, Sr., 73, of White House Beach, Long Neck, DE passed away on 9/23/10 at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Home.

John was born in Oswego, NY. He is predeceased by his parents Asa Edmund and Roleane (Fanchine) Himes. Also predeceased by his brothers, Peter and Donald Himes, sisters, Mary Louise Miner, Eleanor Pepper, and Hilda Clark, his first wife, Carole Dewey of NY, and widower of Luella M. Himes, Colonie, NY.

John is survived by his daughters, Alicia Himes, NY and Regina Himes, CA, his sons, John C. Himes, Jr. (Terri) and Jeff C. Himes (Mary), both of NY, his grandchildren James Himes, Jennifer C. Himes, John C. Himes, III and his great grandson, Bryce Christopher Himes. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Schwitter, Olivia Oyer Halen, and brothers, Paul Himes (Marjorie), NY and David F. Himes (Betty), FL and many nieces and nephews.

John served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Ticonderoga ’55-’58. He was a member of the Fuller Road Fire Department, serving with their fire police. John worked many years for Tobin Packing Company making FIRST PRIZE hotdogs and Parsons Child and Family Center in Albany, NY in the maintenance department.

John was an avid Miami Dolphins fan. He also enjoyed vintage and classic cars, NASCAR, trips to Aruba, and camping with his many friends, especially trips to Indian River Inlet, and Myrtle Beach. He will be fondly remembered for his many jokes, pranks, and impressions.

Services will be held privately. Burial will be in Oswego Town Rural Cemetery. A remembrance gathering will be held in Albany, NY at a later date.
