John F. Slattery Jr., 48

OSWEGO, NY – John F. Slattery Jr., 48, of the town of Oswego, passed away Sunday December 6, 2015, at his home surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Oswego he was the son of John and Marguerite (Lawton) Slattery from the  town of Oswego.

He graduated from Oswego High School in 1987.

He was a corporate member of the Oswego Town Fire Department, and an officer in Hibernians.

He also enjoyed car racing and loved to travel including traveling to England, Ireland, and Arizona.

Surviving besides his parents, are a brother, Frank Slattery from Phoenix, Arizona; his grandmother, Marguerite (Lawton) Furlong; one nephew, Matthew Slattery of Oswego; aunts and uncles, William (Ellen) Lawton of Oswego, JoAnn Pritchard from Fair Haven, Edward (Sheri) Lawton, of Oswego; and several cousins.

John was predeceased by his grandfather, William Lawton; and an uncle, John Pritchard.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St Mary’s Church in Oswego.

Burial will be in Oswego Town Rural Cemetery. missing or outdated ad config

  2. I remember John very fondly. He was one of the nicest guys in our class. He was very protective of his girls. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. So very sorry for your loss.

  3. I’m so sorry to hear of John’s passing. We were in 4th grade together and sat next to each other. We were often scolded for talking too much. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

    I will miss Johnny and always remember all the good times he and I have had over the year. Fly high my friend and say hi to my mom until we meet again.
