John T. Burns, 62

OSWEGO, NY – John T. Burns, 62, of Oswego, passed away Sunday May 25, 2014, at his home.

He was born in Oswego on July 17, 1951, and was the son of the late Robert T. and Rita J. Guernsey Wallace.

He is survived by his wife, Julia A. (Pilon) Burns; six children Scott (Kim) Pilon of Solvay, Anthony (Linda) Burns of Hinesville, Ga., Eric (Cathy) Burns, Erin Burns, Judith Burns and Alexia Burns all of Oswego; grandchildren, Danielle Pilon, Josh Pilon, Emilie Beginski, Colin Burns, John D. Morley, Alexander Burns, Mikayla Pilon, John M. Burns, Mariah Morley, Austin Pilon, Dunkin Bishop and Hailey Bishop; one great-grandchild, Andrew Lee Wallace; siblings, Thomas (Laurie) Burns of Minetto, Paul (Belinda) Burns of New Haven, Patricia Hyde of Scriba, Tammie (Dana) Hollister of Oswego; mother-in-law, Bernadette Pilon of Oswego; brothers-in-law, William Pilon of Hinesville, Ga.,  and James (Jill) Pilon of Oswego; special extended family, Jill, David and Devin Allen, Alica Bishop, and the “First Wives Club” Carol Pilon, Cindy Morley and Deirdre Burns.

Mr. Burns was predeceased by a brother, Robert Burns; a sister, Bonnie Lomrie; and father-in-law, Clarence “Bud” Pilon.

John was a devoted family man who will be remembered for the lives he touched with generosity and kindness.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4-7 p.m. and Friday 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
