OSWEGO, NY – Joseph E. Wheeler, 72, of the Town on Oswego, passed away on Friday April 15, 2016, at Michaud Residential Health Services.
He was born in Oswego and was the son of the late LaVerne and Anne Avery Wheeler.
Mr. Wheeler was employed for many years as an aviator.
He was also a well-known master woodworker.
Mr. Wheeler was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Winkie Wheeler; one daughter, Heather Jean (William) Malone of Oswego; one son,Joseph E. Wheeler II of Oswego; one sister, Mary Lou Rookey of Caledonia, NY; four granddaughters, Lindsay Wheeler, Wendy Miner, April Miner and Cheyenne Malone; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Laurie Strofee; two sisters, Sandy Pelkey and Patricia Plouffe.
A memorial mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday April 26, in St. Mary’s Church.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
