Keith Melvin Gibson

OSWEGO, NY – Keith Melvin Gibson of Oswego, unexpectedly departed this world on Monday June 11, 2012, at University Hospital in Syracuse, NY.

He was born in Oswego on September 10, 1921.

He is survived by his wife, Retha Gibson of Oswego; his son, Keith R. Gibson of Edmond, Okla.; his granddaughter, Robin B. Gibson of Boulder, Colo.; his grandson, Kyle R. Gibson of Edmond, Okla.; and his sister, Phyllis Bullard of Minetto, NY.

He was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Leota Gibson; his sister, Virginia Vogel; his brother, Willard Gibson of Saratoga, NY; and his granddaughter, Emily Gibson of Edmond, Okla.

Keith served in the U.S. Army, Company C, 13th Tank Company, in the European Theater during World War II. He was wounded in Italy and received the Purple Heart.

During his life, Keith was a member of The Brotherhood of Teamsters, The Oswego Elks, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Masons. He was a huge NY Yankee fan.

There will be a private service for the family, with internment in Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.
