Lawrence J. Lester, 84

OSWEGO, NY – Lawrence J. Lester, 84, a resident of East Utica Street, Oswego, passed away Tuesday February 11, 2014, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Margaret (Blunt) Lester.

Lawrence was a veteran, serving in the National Guard for 10 years.

He retired after working for 40 years as associate vice president of commercial loans at HSBC (Formerly Marine Midland).

Lawrence enjoyed golfing and coached Little League. He enjoyed following his children and grandchildren in their sports.

He was a member of the Elks #271.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Jean) Cook Lester; two sons, William (Phyllis) Lester and Richard (Judy) Lester; one brother, Gerald Lester; four grandchildren, Brian Lester, Michael Lester, Amie Shutts and Maggie Lester; and six great-grandchildren, Noah Lester, Addison Lester, Bryce Shutts, Evan Shutts, Jack Lester and Katherine Lester.

Calling hours will be held 3-6 p.m. Saturday, with a service to follow, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.

Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

  1. So sorry to hear about Larry. I hac a business relationship with him for many years and also had played golf with him several times.
    He was a real gentleman and I considered it an honor to have known him.
