Onylee Elizabeth Gratzer, 96

OSWEGO, NY – Onylee Elizabeth Gratzer, 96, a resident of The Manor at Seneca Hill (and formerly of Greece, NY) passed away very peacefully on Saturday June 1, 2013, surrounded by her loving family and caring staff at The Manor.

She would have celebrated her 97th birthday on June 26.

Onylee was born in Rochester, NY, the daughter of the late Curtis and Irene (Rood) Davis on June 26, 1916.

Onylee’s life was devoted entirely and unselfishly to her family as homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Onylee was predeceased by her high school sweetheart and husband, Frank J. Gratzer to whom she was married for more than 69 years; her two sisters, Grace VanLeer and Lois (Britton) DeWaters; and brother, Gordon (Bud) Davis.

She is survived by her loving family: two daughters, Paula (Paul) Guido of Oswego, NY and Pamela Gratzer of Fairport, NY; one son, Mark (Susan) Gratzer of Annapolis, Md.; and two grandchildren, Jason (Alison) Guido of Liverpool, NY and Tami (Michael) Palmitesso of Oswego, NY.

She also leaves behind her four great-grandchildren who she adored so very much: Mischa and Tanner Palmitesso and Ella and Ryan Guido. They affectionately referred to her as “GiGi” (Great Grandma).

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Nelson Funeral Home.

The family will honor Onylee during a memorial service on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Greece United Methodist Church, 1924 Maiden Lane, Rochester, NY, 14626.

  1. We are sorry for your loss. Our daughter was at the Manor for a while and knew Onylee. We weren’t aware of the family connections. Our sympathies to all of you.
