Paul F. ‘Butch’ Somers

OSWEGO, NY – Paul F. “Butch” Somers, 72, a resident of County Route 53, Oswego, passed away Thursday February 7, 2013, at home, surrounded by his family.

Born in Oswego Town, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Barker) Somers.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He was employed at Alcan for more than 30 years.

He was a member of the Oswego Elks and American Legion.

Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.

He played fast-pitch softball and was a member of its hall of fame.

Surviving are his wife, Kathryn (Flack) Somers; a son, Scott Somers of Oswego; two daughters, Shelley (Wallace) Love of Oswego and Stacey (David) Sgarlata of Webster; four brothers, William (Terri) Somers of Fulton, Worden (Pat) Somers of Fulton, Richard (Donna) Somers of Oswego and Tim (Sandra) Somers of Oswego; nine sisters, Margaret Griffin of Oswego Town, Marjorie Glerum of Oswego Town, Helen Kelley of North Carolina, Irene (Al) Pritchard of Sterling, Patricia (Olin) Pritchard of Oswego Town, Lillian Meeker of North Carolina, Jane Kingsley of Oswego, Virginia (Bob) Flack of Sterling and Sandra Fox of Fulton; four grandchildren, Austin Somers, Jonathan, Tim and Paul Love; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Leo and Carl Somers and Violet Pritchard.

Funeral services will be held 11a.m. Tuesday, at the Nelson Funeral Home.

Calling hours will be held 2-7 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Oswego County Hospice, PO Box 102, Oswego or a charity of one’s choice.

  2. Kathy and family, Are sincere condolences go out to you and your family. Butch lit a room up when he entered with his great big smile that he always had . I don’t think I ever saw him without it. So Sorry……
